I, Pedro Lilienfeld, possessor of this mongrel name, am embarking on a late-in-life blog with the expert help of my grandson, to provide access to much of my iconoclastic and heterodox writings, as well as my excursions into autobiographical, scientific and philosophical musings. Some of these essays fall under what I entitled Aleatory Cogitations, a collection of disquisitions about a wide variety of subjects that I have penned over the years.
Although I graduated as an electrical engineer, my professional life can be best characterized as an applied physicist and inventor. And yet I have always been deeply interested in a plethora of other fields: astronomy, astrophysics and astrobiology, music, linguistics, history and history of science, religion, biography, literature and poetry, geography, travel, photography, you name it.
My unorthodox name stems from my peripatetic life. I was born in Spain of German Jewish parents. My given name morphed several times from Pedro to Peterlein and Peter to Pierre and back to Pedro as my family trekked from country to country and from continent to continent.
I am now a nonagenarian living largely a solitary life, except for my lovely and faithful golden retriever, Gaia, in a beautiful woodsy environment in Lexington, Massachusetts, however deeply saddened by the absence of my life’s companion, Evelyn, robbed by mental and physical decay.
I welcome comments about these writings which may strike some of my readers as controversial, if not worse. Contact me, if you care, at: lilienfeldp@gmail.com
